Survive?

When the copper stops buzzing in your brain
And the sweat pours down your neck
I will be there to hold you when the spasm begins

The application of pain is the antidote
70 times now…
It’s hard to tell where the victory lies
The strange attractors have done their damage

Tolerance raises the bar for the next
A number drawn at a random tells you how long,
How deep you’ll have to reach to survive

Down deep enveloped in gloom
Cast by the only bulb in the cavernous hall
You prepare to put on your show,
Daring to expose all in attendance
As patrons of the darkest art of all

You mime kindness
Whisper intimacy
Talk of hope
Shriek out love

The cacophony deafens
Voices drawn tight
Refusing to admit
That the one thing they have in common…
(Humanity)
Is the hardest thing
To achieve

it is here

it is here, on this page
that I tell stories
about the man I used to be

it is here, on this page
where I put the words
about the woman
that takes my breath away

it is here, on this page
that I draw images
of booming sparks
and shooting stars

it is here, on this page
that I profess my love for you

it is here, on this page
that I have created a space
for us to gather our everythings
and show them all to the world

The Plunge

Late at night
When I’ve done everything I can,
Everything I can…

I make friends
With my…

Whatever you want to call them

We come to agreements
We make promises
We swear that
Things will be
ALL BETTER
When the sun
Comes ’round again

AND I BELIEVE IT!!!!
every time

In fact,
It doesn’t even wait until dawn

The plunge is painful,
Long and shameful,
I am surprised every time
At how much I loose
How much I cover up
For the sake of living
A “normal” existence

When I think
It has come to
It’s shaky end
When the random attacks
On my psyche
Have stopped…

Only then do I dare
To sit back and wheeze
Through stunted breaths,
How thankful I am
To be alive,
No matter how
Monumental the task
May have been

Speak

Speak
Use your voice
Use your words
Go everywhere
You ever want to go

Take me there
Show me what
I have been missing
Through the strains
Of your prose

Sing
Use your rock
Use your soul
Create a new universe
Don’t be afraid to go

Pull me into you
Show me the heartbeat
Of your sun
Let me feel
Your dark attraction
Fill my skies with
Sparks and stars

Make me yours
And I will be
Without question

69 Times

I feel it tighter
The flow moving slower
I anticipate
The flow stopping

Nothing passes
All is possible
One encompasses
Serenity

I have always been here
It feels so new
Since the first time
I hold it to my chest

Omniscient waves break
Over the bough
Everything for all
Who feel the spray

Gather round and listen
To the voice of wisdom
To the voice of treachery
To the voice of reason
They are all the same color
They are all the same
They are tighter
They are flowing slower
The flow
Stops

Lightning

lightning peels back
my already shattered sky
I am still jolted
not ready for the crack
although I see it break
I tried to embrace it
become one with
if it would not become
one with me

out in the middle
of a field turning
around and around
making myself the
tallest thing for miles
making myself as
much of a target
as I can hope to be

I anticipate the blast
I am braced for the shock
of heartache, of melancholy,
of grief at your inability to
love me enough that I
must go diving into
driving thunderheads
just to find what I imagine
what my own life is
supposed to feel like
