train wreck

There are times when a thought you have is expressed perfectly by someone else.
At those times you just have to stand back and give them the floor (and the credit)

From “Wildly into the Dark”
by Tyler Knott Gregson

“I’ve never doubted
that I’m a train wreck
kind of man. The metal
and the steam on a
collision course
off the tracks of my life,
I’ve never doubted
that I will mangle myself
and the land around me.
I will not ask you
to steer clear of me,
I know you would not hear;
I’ve never doubted
that I’m a train wreck
of a man, but I know
you sit silent in the darkness
and wait for the sound
of my whistle in
the black.”
