I Have Found You

I have found you
somewhere between the rain drops
and the morning dew, lapping up
honeysuckle, hoping no one saw,
but I did and you hide your
embarrassment behind the trunk
of that oak, until I can coax you
out, and you skip into my embrace,
we turn and hustle off down the old
road, there will be pancakes and
bacon ready when we get back, you
stop to pick a few daffodils so we
don’t arrive empty-handed, and I
tell you “we won’t because I have you”
